How To Make Whipped Cottage Cheese

This recipe is easy to follow. Cook down the fruits, sugar, salt, and syrup, until a delicious compote is formed. Then allow it cool before using it as a topping for your whipped cottage cheese.

Nectarine-Peach Compote

  1. Add chopped nectarine, peach, sugar, maple syrup, lemon zest and juice, and salt to a medium saucepan over medium-high heat and stir to combine ingredients. Once the mixture begins to simmer, continue to stir and drop the heat to medium. Cook for 15 minutes stirring every couple of minutes.
  2. Lightly mash the fruit and continue to cook for 10 minutes or until the mixture begins to thicken. At the last 5-minute mark, add the butter and stir until melted. Remove the pan from heat and leave to cool completely.

  • Pasta Sauce – Add blended cottage cheese to pasta for a high-protein cheese sauce
  • A Healthier Substitute Use it as a healthier alternative to sour cream, mozzarella, or ricotta.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the chunks in cottage cheese?

The chunks in cottage cheese are curds. They form as acid curdles the milk. It’s totally normal and grocery stores offer varieties with small curds and large curds.

How do you get lumps out of cottage cheese?

Run cottage cheese through a food processor or a high-powered blender for at least 2 minutes in order to eliminate any lumps.

Is whipped cottage cheese like ricotta?

Regular cottage cheese is dryer and not as smooth as ricotta cheese. But once it is whipped, the two cheese products are similar enough to use interchangeably in various recipes.
