Air Fryer Hard Boiled Eggs Using A Cosori Air Fryer
Before joining the air fryer train, I did some heavy research. After much debate, I happily ended up purchasing the Cosori Air Fryer Max XL–which has a 5.8 quart basket–and I love it.
This is not an ad for the appliance, rather sharing the model I use to make this recipe. Also keep in mind that different makes and models of air fryers may have variances in cooking times.

How to Cook Eggs in an Air Fryer
Again, once you try this method for hard boiled eggs, you may not go back to boiling eggs in water. I love how reliable the air fryer is!
I’m sharing three different times–all utilizing the same temperature–for the perfect yolk setting, every time.
Once the cooking cycle is complete, place eggs in and ice bath. To make an ice bath, simply fill a bowl halfway with cold water, then add ice; enough to make the water quite chilly.
I always use my air fryer’s preheat setting. This mimics the warm environment eggs are first introduced to, when added to a pot of hot water when boiling eggs.
Alright, let’s get into the how-to with three different yolk settings:

Air Fryer Soft Boiled Eggs
Simply preheat the air fryer at 280°F for 3 minutes.
- After preheating, simply add 6 eggs to basket, careful to not overcrowd.
- Set the temperature at 280°F for 9 minutes.
- Remove eggs from the basket, then transfer to an egg bath for 3 minutes.
- Peel and enjoy eggs!
Air Fryer Jammy Eggs
For jammy eggs, simply change the cooking time to 10-11 minutes. Follow the steps, same as you would for soft boiled eggs. See photo below for reference.

Air Fryer Hard Boiled Eggs
For hard boiled eggs, simply change the cooking time to 14-15 minutes. Follow the steps, same as you would for soft and jammy eggs.

Tips and Tricks
- Do not overcrowd the basket. Air fryers use convection heat, which means it circulates the air to aid in cooking the food. Give the egg some space, and do not worry is eggs roll a bit as you insert the basket into the air fryer. I have found that cooking 12 eggs in the basket is the right amount.
- How to get perfectly centered yolks. The day before cooking eggs, place the carton of eggs on its side. This will help center the yolks.
- Don’t skip the egg bath. The egg bath helps to stop the cooking process, skipping this step can cause the eggs to cook longer, and you risk not getting the perfect yolk setting.
- Peel from the bottom of the egg, first. This typically makes it easier to peel eggs. Peeling eggs under light running water helps with stubborn shells, too.
- Play with cooking times. Different models, brands, basket sizes, wattage and a myriad of factors can influence the outcome of achieving perfect hard boiled eggs. Think of this as a reference guide when using your air fryer (if it is not a Cosori 5.8q) and experiment to find your ideal cooking time and temperature.
